Management Development, Supervisory Skills

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) is the world’s most valid and reliable personality instrument.  Because of its success (when used appropriately), it is used by 70% of Fortune 500 companies (See article—Connecting the ROI and the MBTI®).  The depth and breadth of the information it provides allows it to be used for a very wide variety of organizational and personal development objectives.  Indeed, many organizations use it as the foundation piece for all of their leader and management development (See article Creating an MBTI® Organization).  Our consultants are heavily experienced with the use of all versions of the MBTI® for both specific intervention strategies and for more general development purposes.  A few of the instances in which we may use the MBTI® include:

Individual Performance

The evaluation of individual performance is an activity that may be linked to numerous other efforts including formal performance appraisal processes, business or division realignments, changes in services which may affect personnel, and other business activities. In assisting clients with individual performance evaluations, our consultants first work with the client to identify both the written and unwritten "codes" or organizational norms for dealing with both the process of evaluating human performance and the options for dealing with the myriad of possible outcomes. In general, our philosophy is similar to that of General Electric in that we seek to help clients find ways to identify and retain their top performers and then look at options for dealing with those who are not. This may include job redesign so that the individual can find success where he or she is currently assigned, movement or reassignment within the organization, or a decision to "free up" the person's future so that he or she may seek opportunities with other employers.   •  Internal Corporate Career Centers:  Our full-service internal career centers are based upon proven ways to implement internal career center development and coach professionals to take control of their own development within an organization.  Our programs use the expertise of professional career coaches and counselors in an informal setting.  All Center services are customized to the client organization and its employees.  More on internal career centers . . .

  • Career Workshops:  Popular with both universities and organizations, career workshops use the classroom setting to help participants learn to develop and manage basic career tools such as resumes and portfolios.  Participants also work toward identifying appropriate career goals through the use of assessments and other pertinent information.  These goals become an important input to an overall strategic career management plan.  For internal career development, workshops also teach participants how to conduct feedback sessions with bosses or peers and how to integrate results into their career development plans.

Our business is built upon the custom design and delivery of training and other development products that meet the specific needs of our clients.  But sometimes the client’s need is for a custom product to be delivered by an internal staff of trainers, counselors, or other personnel.  In that instance, we work “behind the scenes” to complete the appropriate needs analysis, research, and targeted development which leads to a sound and comprehensive product that adheres to only the highest of quality standards.  While the components of each product are customized to the client’s needs, they typically include an overview of associated timelines and delivery options, preparation tips, a detailed leader’s/counselor’s guide, visual aids, and other supporting materials.  Most design efforts culminate in a related train-the-trainer/counselor workshop for the internal staff.

Our products and services for trainers and consultants include:

  • Train-the-trainer/counselor workshops that are based upon curriculum we have designed at the request of a client (see Curriculum Design) are a typical ending point for the curriculum development process.  However, we also design and deliver applications workshops for the variety of assessment instruments our consultants use with our own clients.  Our typical audience for this type of workshop is the internal consulting or counseling staff of organizations who deliver like services to our own—often within the university, community college, or organizational setting.  In addition, we will design and deliver basic facilitation and training skills workshops for the new or inexperienced trainer.

 Public Workshops Services  /  Home

Although the large majority of our organizational services are customized and delivered onsite for a single client, we occasionally make our training services available to the public.  We also partner with Ziglar Training Systems and Maximum Impact® to provide our clients access to additional workshops that are truly the "best of the best."  For a current schedule of opportunities for the public, please go to our public seminar schedule.

 

 Distance Learning Services  /  Home

Our distance learning services are primarily offered for instances where information technology meets the people in the organization.  Our facilitators are unique in that they are technology experts in their areas of emphasis but have superior abilities to link to and teach people.  Our primary areas of emphasis include the research, design, and implementation of distance learning strategies.  Services also include:

  • Redesign of existing training programs for delivery via technologies such as Interactive Television and Live, Web-based instruction without degradation in quality or interactivity, 
  • Design of new training for delivery via technologies,
  • Training of existing instructors on the nuances of presentation and facilitation via e-learning technologies, and
  • Assistance with corporate learning cultural issues which have created resistance to an e-learning transition.
